The Association of Polish Cartographers, under special patronage of The Surveyor General of Poland, organizes the 2nd Professional Conference SKP on the subject: „Profession of cartographer”, which will take place in Wroclaw.

The main aim of the conference is to present the output of the Polish cartography and cartographies of the neighboring countries, especially from the Eastern Europe.

New economies and political systems in these countries have brought a rapid development of private cartographic activities. Connected to this fact are arising and unavoidable legal and organizational problems.

The conference has an extraordinary chance to become an open and unique forum for presenting the output as well as the problems and enabling exchange of experience and good practice.

The following issues will constitute the subject of the conference:

• Copyright and intellectual propriety rights
• Review of official Topographic Data Bases (specially visualization aspects)
• Situation of private cartographic companies

Additionally, cartographic exhibition is being prepared – presenting especially the output of cartography from Eastern and Central Europe. We would be pleased if you accept our invitation and participate actively in both the conference and the exhibition. We would be pleased to announce your active participation in both conference and the exhibition.

The topics for presentation and lectures will be accepted until the end of June. As regards the choice of the themes of your presentation, we would suggest the followings ones:

• national policy in geodesy and cartography
• organization of the stage agency of geodesy and cartography
• the main tasks and products of the state agency of geodesy and cartography
